Welbeck Land & Antler Homes proposals – WILD’s thoughts

Our thoughts on the Antler Homes scheme.

At the end of June Antler Homes submitted a planning application for about 30 houses, wedged between Osborn Close and Meadow View, off Reeds Lane (described as DPSC4 in the draft District Plan).  Antler saw no need to contact or consult local residents themselves in advance despite concerns about flooding, traffic impact and whether the developers will abide by the proposed master plan to coordinate local schemes under construction. However, detailed objections have been submitted by a local resident and Albourne Parish Council. We await the outcome.

Our thoughts on Welbeck’s ‘consultation’.

We oppose the proposed development at Coombe Farm, and will reserve our detailed reasons for doing so for our response to the formal planning application. To enable us to finalise that response, we would like clarification on the following points:

  • You highlight ‘a joined up approach’, which we take to be a reference to the masterplan for developments in the area coordinated by Mid Sussex DC. Can you confirm you will abide by its provisions?
  • You note that the site was included in the draft District Plan. Can you confirm you will comply with all MSDC’s standards and policies as set out in the Plan?
  • You propose 30% affordable/self build homes. Can you confirm you will not seek to reduce or look to buy out that obligation?
  • You say you will enhance and protect local woodland. Please explain how you will do so.
Please reply to WILD’s email address. We will post this response and your reply on our website.
